Classroom Use
The Speakers' Bureau branch of the Treaty Relations Commission of Manitoba has many knowledge and engaging presenters who are able to come speak in our classroom's free of charge. Based on the flexibility of the Global Issues curriculum getting a speaker to visit the classroom could be appropriate during any of the units on: - Media - Environment - Poverty, Wealth & Power - Indigenous Peoples - Peace and Conflict - Oppression and Genocide - Social Justice & Human Rights Not only does having a speaker in allow for our student's to learn information from various perspectives but it is also inclusive to students of Aboriginal background. We invited in a speaker from the Speakers' Bureau during our student teaching placement to discuss treaty history and First Nations world view. See more under the Student Work heading. |
