Classroom Use
Intercontinental Cry features current news articles that cover issues affecting Indigenous Peoples all over the world. Users can search news articles by specific Indigenous group, country, and issue. One of the most informative resources available on this website is the Intercontinental Cry Indigenous Peoples Directory where users can learn about over 450 different Indigenous groups from around the world. While this Directory is still being compiled, most articles cover geography, world view, spirituality economy, relationship with various government and more. When available, links are provided to news articles and other resources. This would be a good website to look at when covering a variety of issues that are explored in the inquiry-based Global Issues curriculum. While most media coverage of global issues will show the perspective of the majority, the Intercontinental Cry's articles will highlight the same issue from the perspective of that area's Indigenous peoples. We have used this website with our Grade 11 class during our student teaching placement to research various Indigenous groups in order to complete a compare and contrast research assignment. |
