Classroom Use
There are many times when students participate in activities without realizing their historical significance or role in society. This film clip, which is part of The Path of the Elders video collection shares the qualities of what makes a good snowshoe and how to maintain the equipment so that they perform effectively. Before going on a longer trip students, in pairs, would go out and evaluate the condition of their snowshoes based on the information shared my Emile in the video. Based on their tracks, students would then be able to determine what repairs need to be completed. This may also be a project that could provide cross-curricular opportunities with Science or Social Studies in regards to environment, ecosystems and the fur trade. |
